MIG Welding

Metal Inert Gas welding, is a welding process that uses a continuous solid wire electrode fed through a welding gun. This process melts the wire and the base metal to join them together. It also uses a shielding gas to protect the weld from contamination.

For optimal welding results, it is essential to use high-quality, straight welding tables. We utilize the industry's best, the Siegmund 5' x 10' welding tables, renowned for their precision and durability.
At our shop, we prioritize quality by utilizing only the best TIG welding machines. One of our key pieces of equipment is this Miller 300 TIG Welder, renowned for its reliability and performance. We are committed to using only the finest tools to ensure optimal results in our welding projects.

We weld with Siegmund Welding Tables that deliver exceptional flatness and precise dimensions that ensure accurate fixturing and consistent welding results. These tables are the top choice on the market, providing a high degree of dimensional accuracy that guarantees efficient and precise fixturing every time.

Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding is a method that uses a tungsten electrode to create a weld. It relies on an inert gas to protect the weld from oxidation. TIG welding delivers exceptional, spatter-free welds and requires a high level of skill to master.

TIG Welding

Aluminum Fabrication

Many companies struggle to provide quality aluminum welding and services, mainly because TIG (tungsten inert gas) welding of aluminum demands a high level of skill and expertise. Forge Metal Works is proud to deliver top-notch aluminum welding services in Austin and throughout Central Texas.

Welding aluminum can present challenges, even for experienced welders. It involves different techniques and processes than those used for steel, making it crucial to grasp these differences for successful welding on various projects.

This material is delicate and highly sensitive, featuring a strong oxidized layer for insulation. When aluminum is molten, it can easily become contaminated, leading to porous and weak welds. Managing these factors is essential for achieving strong and dependable welds in any application. Aluminum's resistance to corrosion, lightweight characteristics, and visual appeal contribute to its popularity in fabrication, but these same traits can complicate the working process.  This is all why companies rely on Forge Metal for their aluminum welding needs.

Steel Welding

Steel is primarily composed of carbon and iron, along with trace amounts of other elements like manganese. Low carbon steel typically contains around 0.3 percent carbon, while cast iron a carbon content of 3 percent or higher. This increased carbon level in cast iron makes it more difficult to weld, whereas carbon steel is recognized as the easiest metal to weld.

TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding is commonly employed in fields such as pipe welding, aerospace, aviation, biomedical implants, and the production of race cars and motorcycles. It is favored for its precision and cleanliness compared to MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding or stick welding, making it a highly attractive option. TIG welding is capable of joining carbon steel and even metals as thin as razor blades.

Most TIG welding occurs indoors in a controlled environment. This welding technique is remarkably versatile and suitable for nearly all types of metals.

Stainless Steel Fabrication

Forge Metal Works excels in delivering top-notch sheet metal fabrication services, utilizing a variety of metals, with a particular focus on high-quality stainless steel. Our dedicated and diverse team is composed of skilled professionals who bring a wealth of expertise to the table. We are committed to guiding you through every phase of your project, from the initial concept and design stages all the way to the final touches upon completion.

While aluminum is frequently selected for custom fabrication due to its lightweight nature and versatility, there are circumstances where a sturdier material is required. For example, stainless steel, known for its formidable strength, is approximately three times heavier than aluminum. This significant weight contributes to its durability, making it an ideal choice for demanding applications. However, this also necessitates a more intricate and meticulous fabrication process to ensure precision and quality.

Our fabrication specialists prioritize excellence by employing tried-and-true fabrication techniques and carefully selecting the most appropriate materials for each unique project. We strive to deliver results that not only meet but exceed our clients’ expectations, reinforcing our commitment to quality craftsmanship and reliable service.
